The dance drama Confucius describes the life of Confucius who had the loftiest ideal from his taking part in politics, travelling in different kingdoms, being trapped in difficulties and singing the Orchid Melody to returning to Lu Kingdom in his old age, revising works and developing the system of rites and music. The playwright was Liu Chun; The composer was Xie Peng; The stage designer was Ren Dongsheng, and the general director was Kong Dexin. It was created by China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater and fist performed in Beijing in 2013. It won the excellent play award during the performing season of State-level art troupes in 2013.
