The Dance Drama Princess Wencheng

Thedance drama Princess Wencheng recreatesthe following historical fact: In the 7^th century, the Tibetan king SongzainGambo requested Emperor Taizong of Tang to marry to him a girl in the TangDynasty, with the purpose of developing the friendship between the Han peopleand Tibetan people. For the harmony between ethnic groups, Emperor Taizong ofTang sent Princess Wencheng to Tibet. The drama extols national unity. It waswritten by Tang Mancheng, Zhang Minxin and Li Zhengyi, directed by Zhang Minxinand Sun Tianlu, and composed by Shi Fu. It was created and performed by ChinaNational Opera & Dance Drama Theater in1979, and won the second prize in creation and the first prize in performanceduring the performances to mark the 30^th anniversary of New China.
